Success Stories

"Hi, my name is Mandy Wright and I adopted a dog from you at the end of January. I just wanted to write to express my extreme happiness with my new adoptee. Her name is Maggie and I can't believe that anyone would ever have surrendered her. She's the most loving, funny, cute dog I've ever had or met. I've attached some pictures to this e-mail so that you and everyone in the Humane Society can see her doing some of her favorite things. What you do there is great and it has made me and my fiance incredibly happy. Thanks for this wonderful blessing!"

"Hello, I am Michelle; this is Jason and the beautiful dog Xena. We have a story we would like to share with you. In 1997 we went to the Lebanon Humane Society in search of adopting a dog, to be honest a German Shepherd (we love the breed. When we arrived there we saw this dog, which was as a stray, and to our surprise was a pure white German Shepherd. I knew when our eyes met she was meant to be a part of our family. It was as if this was meant to be. When we adopted her our family was complete. She was the best dog anyone could have... loyal, sweet and very loving.

When she died in May of 2008 due to hip issues, our family was devastated and torn apart. There was this sadness in our home... our world changed and our hearts were broken. I thought to myself, what can I do to keep Xena's memory alive... what can I do to give back to the place that gave us Xena, the Lebanon Humane Society? So we made up flyers and went on a mission; what we received was nothing short of amazing. We raised a lot of things to donate to the shelter in memory of Xena. I realized people cared about what I was out to accomplish. I succeeded in my quest and now our hearts will be whole again. Thank goodness for places like the shelter so that abandoned, abused, found or surrendered animals have a safe, loving place to stay.

The staff is great for what they do and the devotion they give to help the animals in need. If not for them I would not be here today, sharing Xena's wonderful story with you. Thank you, Lebanon Humane Society!

In loving memory of Xena!

Xena, Michelle and Jason

"We adopted Rocky, the Lab/Husky mix (a Labsky!) on Thursday. I just wanted to let you know what an absolutely wonderful dog he is. He's smart, gentle and goofy. Oh yes, and calm! He's the calmest dog we've owned. Amazing what exercise will do (for him and us!). He's knows basic commands, but he plays dumb with some of the Husky stubbornness at times. We purchased an invisible fence, and he understood what that was all about after the first day of training. We are so happy with him. He's just a really, really great dog!"

"We adopted Gunner on 8/15/07. We visited the Humane Society and he was the only dog not barking. He was a beautiful chocolate lab. He had been brought in as a stray. He looked full grown, but he was still a puppy. The veterinarian estimated his age to be about 1 year old. We made the day of his adoption his new birthday. Gunner (aka Sonny) was not neutered. I was very apprehensive to adopt an unaltered male but my concerns were never a problem. We brought him home and had him neutered and micro chipped the next day. He has been the best dog. He was housebroken before we brought him home. At first, he ran and ran and ran away from home. He just wanted to find other dogs to play. Finally, we invested in an invisible fence and it has been the greatest thing ever. He has at least 1 1/2 acres to run. The rest of our land is off limits to him, but he has plenty. He is such a beautiful dog inside and outside. He looks like a pure bred chocolate lab. His coat almost looks black so we call him our 'special dark chocolate' lab. We have a large family of 5 children from teens to an infant. "

"I cannot stress enough how much we love him and how much he is a part of our family. I will always adopt a shelter dog from now on. In fact, as soon as the new baby is a toddler, we will be looking for another dog. We never had to go through the puppy chewing phase with him. We have a crate for him and he sleeps in there often, the door is always kept open and he makes his way around the house sleeping wherever he wants. We tried moving the crate to a different part of the house and it made him somewhat anxious so we moved it back. We are fortunate to have grandma's come to our house and stay with our little girls while we work, so Gunner is rarely alone and he can go in and out as he pleases. He is such a gentle giant, not even stealing food from our 3 year old. He even follows commands from her. He has his own stuffed animals and he never even tries to take the kids' stuffed animals. The vet comes to our house because we are afraid he will try and escape. He is truly a blessing and has completed our family. I would recommend a shelter dog to anyone who truly wants a dog and understands the responsibility."

"Approximately 2 years ago my family and I adopted a Beagle from your shelter. At the time of the adoption her name was Queenie, today she is our loving dog Lilly. We wanted to let you know that we appreciate the dedication you have for these animals. Lilly is the apple of our eye. She is truly a loving dog. We cannot picture our lives without her. She has truly brought happiness into our lives. She turns a sad, gloomy day into a happy day for all of us. When I come home from work frustrated, all I have to see is her smiling face and he tail wagging as she runs toward me to give me lots of Love. She is truly a blessing and we want to thank you for bringing such an awesome pet into our lives."

Sincerely, the Price Family
