Humane Society of Lebanon County recieves donations from Lebanon County Youth - Saturday, August 2, 2008 BY Gene Gonzalez ( Humane Society of Lebanon County.)

On Saturday August 2, Jaydon Grumbine of Myerstown visited our shelter along with his family members. This day was no ordinary day for Jaydon as it was his fifth birthday!

"Jaydon Grumbine celebrated his 5th Birthday Party on August 2nd and instead of choosing to accept gifts for himself, he created little paw prints and inserted them into his invitations," his mother Michele Grumbine stated. Furthermore, "The paw prints contained the list of needs from your web site.  He asked all of his friends and family to bring donations for the animals at the humane society instead of presents for himself.  Jaydon has been to visit the animals at the Humane Society several times prior to his birthday so he could see first hand the animals his donations would assist."

Jaydon loves animals and has 2 bunnies named Coco and Bubblegum.  He was excited about his chance to donate to the animals shelter that he was overheard by his parents explaining to his friends and family how he was going to help.  When leaving the shelter after making his donations, he asked us if he could do that every year for his birthday instead of receiving presents!  - How amazing!

On Thursday August 14, Katherine Travis of Lebanon County visited our shelter along with her mother and younger brother to deliver gifts (donations) from her birthday party August 10, 2008. Katherine celebrated her seventh birthday on August tenth of two-thousand and eight.

The Travis family adopted a dog named "Carrie" from the shelter some time ago and all were moved to give back in some manner. Katherine certianly did so by asking friends and relatives to donate items in honor of her birtday!

Katherine Travis truly understands the meaning of giving. - Happy Birthday wishes from all at the Humane Society of Lebanon County!

Lebanon County High School Seniors Volunteer and Complete Their Senior Projects at the Humane Society - Friday, August 15, 2008 BY Gene Gonzalez ( Humane Society of Lebanon County.)

Four of several high school seniors cheerfully volunteer at the Lebanon Shelter as part of their senior project, not as an obligatory curriculum, but rather an experience they can use for future endeavors. For example, Ashley states, "volunteering here is a great experience. You learn how to properly care for the animals and working with the animals is the best part." She continues by saying, "I am considering dog grooming as a career and this has helped me learn how to be around animals other than my own pets." In addition, Bethani states," you learn more about the animals as you learn to take care of them." Bethani is considering a career in Veterinary care she gets hands on training in helping animals and finds it a rewarding experience working with animals and other people. All of the teens that volunteered this summer have worked hard and have done a great job!
