Free to a Great Home
The Free To A Great Home program seeks to remove some of the obstacles older homeless pets face by waiving the adoption fees for senior animals, as well as any animal that has been available for adoption for eight weeks or more.
How the program works:
- Interested adopters go through the normal adoption screening process.
- If approved for adoption, any dog eight years and over and any cat eleven years and over are adopted at no charge. Also, any cat or dog which has been up for adoption for eight weeks or more may be adopted at no charge through the Free to a Great Home program!
- Adopters receive all the same benefits and responsibilities as regular adopters.
We hope that this program will help even more older pets get the homes that they need and make room in our shelter for even more younger animals! Consider an older pooch or kitty (maybe get a puppy or kitten while you are at it!)
Licensing
If you are adopting a dog or puppy over three months of age, Pennsylvania law requires that you purchase a dog license at the time of adoption. Fees vary from $4.95 to $8.95 depending on the adopter and the dog's sterilization status. We can provide Lebanon County residents with a 2013 dog license when adopting. Residents of other counties must obtain a license from their County Treasurer or a satellite office.
